STURDIVANT, Mo. -- Dwight C. Scowden, 76, of Sturdivant passed away Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, at his home.

He was born June 28, 1938, in Sturdivant, the son of Oren and Annie Simmers Scowden.

Dwight had been a union laborer working as an asphalt layer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards.

Survivors include special friend Debbie McCall of Sturdivant; a daughter, Renea Presley of Jackson; three brothers, Dwane Scowden of Cartledge, Missouri, Lloyd Harris of Bloomfield, Missouri, and Bobby Joe Scowden of Gordonville; four sisters, Shirley McCulley, Rachel Carlton, Barbara Shell and Margaret White, all of Advance, Missouri; three grandchildren; and 14 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Dale Wiseman officiating. Burial will be in Berrong Cemetery near Gipsy, Missouri.
