CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Dwain Rains, 68, of Chaffee died at his home Wednesday, July 7, 2010. He was born Jan. 22, 1942, at Watts, Ark., son of Blain and Junia Otta Barnes Rains. He and Sherrin Lancaster were married Feb. 4, 1961. Dwain was a carpenter with Drury Co. in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Chaffee, Chaffee Elks Lodge 1810 and Carpenters Local 1795 of Farmington, Mo. He was an avid horseshoe pitcher and was elected to the SEMO Association Hall of Fame...

CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Dwain Rains, 68, of Chaffee died at his home Wednesday, July 7, 2010.

He was born Jan. 22, 1942, at Watts, Ark., son of Blain and Junia Otta Barnes Rains. He and Sherrin Lancaster were married Feb. 4, 1961.

Dwain was a carpenter with Drury Co. in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Chaffee, Chaffee Elks Lodge 1810 and Carpenters Local 1795 of Farmington, Mo. He was an avid horseshoe pitcher and was elected to the SEMO Association Hall of Fame.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Danny (Tammy) Rains of Chaffee, Michael Rains of Orlando, Fla., Jason (Lindi) Rains of Chaffee; four grandchildren, Bridget Rains, Daniel (Terri) Rains, Kade Sullivan and Ashtyn Rains, all of Chaffee; three great-grandchildren, Blain, Landon and Hailey Rains, all of Chaffee; a brother, Samuel Rains of Sikeston, Mo.; two sisters, Vena Nelson of Yuba City, Calif., and Tula Eskew of Morley, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Friday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, with an Elks service at 7:30.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Darrin Larkin officiating. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery.
