Funeral for Samuel Wesley "Dub" Rhodes of Cape Girardeau will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. The Rev. Lee Roy Quinn will officiate. Burial will be in Hobbs Chapel Cemetery, with graveside rites by VFW Post 3838..Friends may call at the chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.
Rhodes, 69, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at the VA Medical Center in Marion, Ill.
He was born June 8, 1930, at Sturdivant, son of James Elwood and Eula Ramsey Rhodes. He and Ruth Jones were married in March 1953, in Piggott, Ark.
Rhodes was a self-employed carpenter, retiring six years ago. He served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Samuel Rhodes, Larry and Vernon Swader of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Norma Windeknecht and Rosemary Clover of Cape Girardeau; a brother, John Weissinger of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Faye RainMissourian
POPLAR BLUFF -- Funeral for Marie Ginger McManus of Poplar Bluff will be held at 1 p.m. today at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Jerry Darby will officiate. Burial will be in City Cemetery.
McManus, 77, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at her home.
She was born May 28, 1922, in Poplar Bluff. She and Raymond L. McManus Sr. were married Feb. 4, 1984.
McManus worked 43 years at City Light and Water Department, retiring as office manager. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and Altrusa Club.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Raymond McManus Jr. of Poplar Bluff; a daughter, Nita Sheets of Cape Girardeau; and two grandchildren.
