CAIRO, Ill. -- Memorial service for Dr. William W. Ireland of Gravois Mills was held Feb. 1 at Kent Memorial Lutheran Church in Sunrise Beach.
Ireland, 68, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1993, at his home.
He was born Nov. 12, 1924, in Cache, son of Romeo C. and Minnie A. Ireland. He and Peggy C. Anderson were married July 30, 1954.
Ireland was a graduate of University of Illinois School of Medicine. He was a retired radiologist. Ireland was a member of the Masonic Order, Elks, and president of Rotary Club. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Linda Olejar of Palatine, Joni Wampier of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Susan Colbert of Hoffman Estates; two sons, William Ireland of Schaumburg, James Ireland of Friscoe, N.C.; four brothers, Romeo Ireland of Superior, Wis., Garland Ireland of Bastrop, La., Keith Ireland of Cairo, Leland Ireland of Hendersonville, N.C., and a sister, Blanche Slaughter of Oblong.
He was prececed in death by parents, a brother and sister.
