SIKESTON -- Dr. William C. Critchlow, 82, of Sikeston died Wednesday, April 16, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 5, 1914, in Matthews, son of Clarence A. and Ruth Hill Critchlow.

He married Wanda F. Radcliffe April 8, 1939, in Sikeston.

He was graduated from Matthews High School, Murray State University and St. Louis University Medical School. After completing two years of postgraduate training in St. Louis, he served in the U.S. Army and Coast Artillery during World War II. After the war, he completed two years of surgical residency before coming to Sikeston to begin general practice in 1947. In 1948, he became a charter staff member of Missouri Delta Medical Center. He was a diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice and practiced in Sikeston until he retired in 1985.

He was a member of the first City Council formed under the council-manager system. He was a 32nd-degree Mason and Shriner through Lodge 310 AF&AM, a member of the Moolah Shrine Temple, St. Louis, a member of the Kiwanis Club and member and elder of the First Christian Church in Sikeston.

Survivors include: his wife; four sons, Dr. Jim Critchlow of Dexter, Joe Critchlow of Corpus Christi, Texas, Dr. Tom Critchlow and Dr. Mike Critchlow, both of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Debbie Critchlow Yorke of Dexter; two sisters, state Rep. Mary Kasten of Cape Girardeau and Bea Depro of Sikeston; and 13 grandchildren.

Memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church with the Rev. Ed Pangburn officiating.

Arrangements were made by Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.
