Former Cape Girardeau dentist Dr. Thomas G. Tygett, 57, of Scottsdale, Ariz., died Tuesday, June 15, 1993, at his home.
He was born Dec. 11, 1935, in Cape Girardeau, son of Dr. Glenn and Mildred Norris Tygett. He married the former Anita Crowe June 23, 1959, at Poplar Bluff. He later married Michele Gruett in October 1982.
Tygett graduated from College High School, where he played basketball and was on the track team. He graduated from Southeast Missouri State University, and the University of Missouri-Kansas City Dental School. He served in the U.S. Air Force, and was a captain when discharged in 1963.
He returned to Cape Girardeau from Amarillo, Texas, and began practice here in July 1963. He moved to the Phoenix, Ariz., area in 1990 and just recently to Scottsdale. He was currently practicing on an Indian reservation in that area.
While here, he was a member of Southeast Missouri Dental Society, chairman of Missouri Heart Fund drive, coached Little League baseball, served on the Doctors' Park Board two years, and was still a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.
Survivors include five sons, Thomas Tygett Jr. of Phoenix, Scott Tygett of Bitburgh, Germany, Matthew Tygett of Scottsdale, Jeff Tygett of St. Charles, Grant Tygett of Des Moines, Iowa; a daughter, Ann Tygett of Cape Girardeau; his mother of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Dr. Joseph Tygett of Cape Girardeau, and four grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Neil Stein will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. Saturday.
