PATTON -- Dr. Samuel Price Marshall, 77, of Patton died Monday, Dec. 8, 1997, at his home.
He was born Jan. 24, 1920, at Morley, son of Sterling Price and Etna Brown Marshall. He and Orpha Mae Brown Doggett were married March 13, 1970.
Marshall retired as a major in the U.S. Army, and then was principal at Meadow Heights and Zalma Schools.
He received many degrees in education, including doctorates in 1976 and 1987. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Marble Hill.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Samuel Marshall II of Mascoutah, Ill.; three daughters, Mary Marshall and Susan Newman of Mehlville, Ila Hodgkiss of Scott City; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Patton from 4:30-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Samuel Marshall II officiating. Graveside service and burial will be in Old Morley Cemetery at Morley.
