Dr. Rex Bowers, 77, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 17, 1926, at Webb City, Mo., son of Orvon and Zelda Porter Bowers. He and Melba Nichols were married in 1951 at Granby, Mo.
Dr. Bowers was a professor of psychology at Southeast Missouri State University from 1963 to 1987.
He received a bachelor's degree from Southwest Missouri State University and a masters and doctorate from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He was a member of the American Psychological Association.
Dr. Bowers served in the U.S. Navy from Nov. 8, 1944, to July 2, 1946.
Survivors include his wife; a sister, Peggy Davis of Neosho, Mo.; and a brother, Bill Speak of Carthage, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
