Dr. Mark Finley Maddox, 57, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Friday, June 6, 2014.

A celebration of Mark's life will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Broadway Baptist Church, 3931 Washington St. in Kansas City.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. before the service.

The family requests contributions to the Parkinson's Foundation Heartland Chapter, 8900 State Line Road, No. 320, Leawood, KS 66206, or Broadway Baptist Church.

Mark was born July 27, 1956, in Oklahoma City.

He graduated magna cum laude from Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor of science degree in pre-dental, then graduated from the UMKC School of Dentistry. He owned his own practice in the Kansas City area 30 years before retiring in 2012.

Upon retirement he enjoyed his hobby of making jewelry. He was a member of Broadway Baptist Church.

Mark was preceded in death by a sister, Janette Maddox.

He is survived by his parents, R. Finley and Hannah Maddox; a brother, Kent Maddox; a niece, Alysse Maddox, all of Cape Girardeau; and a niece, Miranda Maddox of New York City.

Mark was a wonderfully talented and generous dentist who frequently gave his service to the less fortunate. He was a sweet soul who will be missed by his family and friends.
