Dr. Gordon Nunnelly died Saturday, July 6, 2019, at his home.
He practiced family and emergency medicine in Cape Girardeau for 52 years, ending as an emergency room physician in Dexter, Missouri. He conceived of and designed Doctors Park in 1969 as a one-stop medical center. He and his wife, Marjorie, founded and operated the Cloister Vineyard from 1985 to 1990.
He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The Nunnelly family will not be holding a visitation, funeral ceremony or memorial, but rather a private family remembrance.
The Nunnelly family has been deeply moved by the outpouring of love and support by family, friends and former patients of Gordon at his sudden passing. The family requests memorial contributions in his memory to The Humane Society of Southeast Missouri at semopets.org/ or Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center at cgcohealthdept.com/.
McCombs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
