Dr. Frank Arrington Wiley, 82, of Jackson, noted educator and administrator, died Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Dr. Wiley was born July 7, 1928, in Holly Grove, Ark., to Foster Neal and Zoe Arrington Wiley. Dr. Wiley and Martha Ann Cox were married Dec. 23, 1950.
Dr. Wiley graduated from Keytesville High School. He attended Westminster College in Fulton, Mo., and graduated from Kirksville Teachers College. Dr. Wiley was awarded his doctorate in education from University of Missouri-Columbia in 1965.
Dr. Wiley's role as an educator spanned four decades, culminating as superintendent of Jackson public schools from 1967 to 1988.
Dr. Wiley served in the U.S. Army in Korea and Japan during the Korean War. He was a Rotarian and member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jackson.
He is survived by two sons, Dr. Mike (Kim) Wiley of Farmington, Mo., and Russell Wiley of Malden, Mo.; and three grandchildren.
Dr. Wiley was preceded in death by his wife, Martha, on July 13, 2007, and by his parents, Foster and Zoe Wiley of Kansas City, Mo.
Private services will be held in Keytesville, Mo.
Memorials may be made to the Jackson R-2 School District Foundation.
