Dr. Dudley G. Ruopp, 92, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at Missouri Veterans Home.
He was born April 10, 1917, in New York, N.Y., to John and Jane Long Ruopp. Dr. Ruopp was married to Imelda Carron on Jan. 13, 1946, at Bloomsdale, Mo. She preceded him in death March 21, 2009.
He served with the Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
Dr. Ruopp graduated from Logan College of Chiropractic in 1939, then moved to Cape Girardeau, where he opened his practice in 1946. He retired in 1986.
Dr. Ruopp was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He was a former president of the Kiwanis Club and was a grand knight of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of Southeast Missouri State Chiropractic Association and a volunteer juvenile probation officer more than four years.
He served 25 years on the Cape Girardeau Planning and Zoning Committee and also served two terms on the Missouri State Board of Chiropractic Examiners.
Survivors include four sons, Michael (Joyce) Ruopp of Cedar Hill, Mo., Dr. Patrick (Janet) Ruopp and Dr. Jack (Janice) Ruopp of Cape Girardeau, Mark (Theresa) Ruopp of Bloomsdale; three daughters, Susan (Bob) Fields of Austin, Texas, Carol (Jerry) Jackson of Nashville, Tenn., and Andrea Jane (Jim) Burnett of O'Fallon, Mo.
Also 22 grandchildren, Chuck (Heather) Fields of Austin, Christy Ruopp of Fayetteville, Ark., Jason Ruopp of Gravette, Ark., Chris Greet and Amy Welch of St. Louis, Gretchen Jackson of Nashville, Tyler Ruopp of O'Fallon, Ill., Billie Jo Robinson of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Hannah Robusto, Brenton, Alyssa, Brittney, Jill, Rachel, Erica, Megan, Jacklyn and Graham Ruopp of Cape Girardeau, Rebekah Roth, Sarah DeClue and Nathan Ruopp of Jackson and Tyler Burnett of O'Fallon, Mo.; 18 great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Ruopp of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother and a son.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Church.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. David Hulshof officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
