DR. A.E. MCDERMOTT

PERRYVILLE -- Dr. A.E. McDermott, 69, of Perryville died Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 28, 1928, at Robertsville, son of Thomas and Sylvia Grass McDermott.

He married Patricia A. Finnegan on Sept. 18, 1954. She survives.

He was a graduate of St. Louis University Medical School. He served in the Air Force. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, American Legion Post 133, Knights of Columbus Council 1263, American Medical Association, Missouri Medical Association, and the Perry and Ste. Genevieve County Medical Society.

He is survived by sons, Brian McDermott of Perryville and Hugh McDermott of Philadelphia; daughters, Sharon Hoeh of Perryville, Maura Buchheit of St. Louis and Dr. Kate McDermott Barteau of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Robert McDermott of Independence; sisters, Lucille Eichenlaub, Betty Vorbeck, Pat Sleyster and Sister Joan McDermott, all of St. Louis, Millicent Sexauer of Ste. Genevieve and Caroline Kruth of Pittsburgh; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

Service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kevin Fausz officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 6:30 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. Wednesday at Young & Sons Funeral Home.
