SIKESTON -- Doyle "Gabby" Lefler, 67, of Sikeston, died Tuesday, May 17, 1994, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 20, 1926, in Canalou, son of George Lewis and Audrey Jewell Ginger Lefler. He and Audra Rhodes Plunk were married Feb. 25, 1992, in Reno, Nev.
Lefler was owner and operator of Gabby's Small Engine Repair, and a bail bondsman for A.A. Action Bail Bonding Co. He was a loan officer 19 years at Crown Finance in Sikeston.
He attended Emmanuel Baptist Church, was a member of Henry Meldrum American Legion Post 114 and Eagles Aerie 3319. He played baseball many years and had coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball teams. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Dan Lefler of Morley, Derek Lefler of Sikeston, Darin Lefler of Ft. Collins, Colo.; a daughter, Dana Thurman of Lincoln, Calif.; a brother, Allen Lefler of Yukon, Okla.; three sisters, Imogene Bussey of Brewton, Ala., Bonnie Walls of Matthews, Wilda Hill of Pinckneyville, Ill., and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the chapel, with the Rev. David Webb officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
