ANNA, Ill. -- Dovie Elkins, 94, of Anna, died Monday, Oct. 24, 1994, at City Care Center. She was born Nov. 15, 1899, in Woodbury, Tenn., daughter of James and Ella Gournigan Merriman. ANNA, Ill. -- Dovie Elkins, 94, of Anna, died Monday, Oct. 24, 1994, at City Care Center.

She was born Nov. 15, 1899, in Woodbury, Tenn., daughter of James and Ella Gournigan Merriman. She married James Elkins Nov. 14, 1915. He died July 14, 1974.

Elkins was a member of Ware United Pentecostal Church.

Survivors are four sons, Ralph Elkins, Dexter, Mo., James Elkins Jr., Huntingburg, Ind., Donald Elkins, Mystic, Conn., and John Elkins, Anna; two daughters, Lillie Peeler, Valley Park, Mo., Mildred Dunham, Pacific, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter.

Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. today at Norris & Son Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ware United Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Danny Jones officiating. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery.
