Douglas Murray Massey, 67, of Vernal, Utah, departed this life Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Dec. 4, 1939, in Vernal.

Douglas lived in Cape Gir-ardeau many years. He retired from Southeast Missouri State University.

Loving survivors include a son, Shaun Massey of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Tamara (Chris) Everitt; granddaughters, Ivy and Alana Everitt, all of Winona, Minn.; two sisters, Barbra (Ray) Allen and Elaine (Mark) Allen of Vernal; many nieces and nephews; and best friend, Janet.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Sewell and Sarah Francis Murray Massey; a son, a daughter, a brother and two sisters.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary in Vernal.
