Douglas Gene August, 80, of Scott City died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020, at his home.
He was born Dec. 28, 1939, in Ancell to Mason and Josephine Catherine Welter. He married Velma Jane Krieger on March 14, 1961.
He was a conductor for Union Pacific Railroad and was a member of the Eisleben Lutheran Church in Scott City. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Velma August; son, Trent (Patti) August of Scott City; grandsons, Nicholas (Tammy) August and Mitchell (Aleshia) August; and a great-granddaughter, Aubrey August.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gregg August; brother; and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. today at Eisleben Lutheran Church in Scott City.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at the church, with the Rev. Paul Short officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will be in Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Eisleben Lutheran Church or Alzheimer's Association.
