Dorthy Kelley

McCLURE, Ill. -- Dorthy J. Kelley, 76, of McClure died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born June 27, 1925, in Herrin, Ill., daughter of Elvis and Mayme L. Thompson Skaggs. She and Robert A. Kelley were married Nov. 25, 1947, in Piggott, Ark. He died Dec. 16, 1964.

Dorthy was office manager 25 years for Dr. Wolff and Dr. Kies, retiring in 1989. She was a member of First Christian Church in Hurst, Ill., and attended McClure Pentecostal Church many years. She was a volunteer at St. Francis Medical Center.

Survivors include a daughter, Roberta J. Matlock of McClure; a sister, Mary Friedline of Sikeston, Mo.; three brothers, Bill R. Skaggs of Mount Vernon, Wash., Bob J. Skaggs of Hurst, John M. Skaggs of Pekin, Ill.; two grandchildren, Kelley J. Chandler of McClure, Shane and wife, Victoria, Matlock of McClure; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Mathew Chandler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and a sister.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Greg Morrison officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to charity of choice.
