Dorris Catherine Felter Young, 86, of Cape Girardeau died peacefully at home Wednesday, June 26, 2013, after a lingering illness. She was born Oct. 20, 1926, in Scott County, to the late Killian and Frances Ziegler Felter. Dorris Catherine Felter Young, 86, of Cape Girardeau died peacefully at home Wednesday, June 26, 2013, after a lingering illness.

She was born Oct. 20, 1926, in Scott County, to the late Killian and Frances Ziegler Felter.

Dorris always had been very proud to have served 10 years as public administrator of Cape Girardeau County years ago. She was an avid golfer and past member of Cape Girardeau Country Club.

She leaves behind her husband of 65 years, E. Ross "Hooch" Young; two daughters, Robyn Young of Cape Girardeau and Susan (Robert) Rosenthal of St. Louis; three grandsons, David (Barbel) Byrd of West Point, N.Y., Phillip (Amber) Atteberry of Austin, Texas, and Daniel (Laine) Byrd of Cordova, Tenn.; three great-grandsons; two sisters, Vera (late Clarence) Lohmann and Florence (late Billy J.) Lewis; a brother, Charles (Verena) Felter of Cape Girardeau; a sister-in-law, Marie (late Paul) Felter of Fern Park, Fla.; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Jean Young Byrd; and a brother, Paul Felter.

A private memorial will be at a later date.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
