Doris Theo Haring "Dorrie" DiLucchio, 83, loving and sweet mother of Lori Ann Kinder (Frank), passed away peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, in her room at Chateau Girardeau with loved ones by her side.
Dorrie joined her youngest daughter, Lori Ann, in Cape Girardeau last November when she moved from her home of 40 years in Kalamazoo, Mich. She resided at Chateau Girardeau where she enjoyed a wonderful quality of life. She delighted in the company of her three grandchildren, Paige, Will and Emilia, and took up for them at every turn.
She was a creative and energetic woman with unconditional love for her entire family. She had a strong faith in God and looked forward to the time that she would join her husband, Lawrence Anthony DiLucchio, who departed in December 1990.
Dorrie is survived by three children, Julie Joe Perkins of Greenville, S.C., and her two sons, Michael and Andrew Perkins; a son, Michael Anthony DiLucchio (Susan) and their two sons, Nathan and Trevor DiLucchio, and daughter, Lori Ann (Frank) Kinder.
She was born Dec. 9, 1925, in Camanche, Iowa, married in Tucson, Ariz., then moved with her husband to Chicago where they had three children. Dorrie lived with her husband of nearly 40 years and children in Kalamazoo from 1967 to 2008.
She enjoyed a wonderful life of family, dear friends, loved nature and crafts, and was an excellent cook and homemaker.
Dorrie will be missed, but we know that she is in our future and not just a dear memory of the past.
A memorial service will be held in Michigan at a later date.
Special thanks is extended to the wonderful family of caregivers at Chateau Girardeau, and to the loving friends and family here in Cape Girardeau. She truly was made to feel welcomed and loved.
