Dorothy Louise Yancey, 90, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born June 28, 1928, in Irvington, Illinois, to Earl Louis and Ora Belle Blankenship Thompson. She and W.O. "Jack" Yancey were married May 28, 1949.
Dorothy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson. She enjoyed gardening and needle work.
Survivors include her three children, Rebecca Yancey of Jackson, Deborah Yancey of Millersville and Mark (Lisa) Yancey of Conroe, Texas; a brother, Marvin Thompson of California; four grandchildren, Mark Yancey Jr., Chase Yancey, Jordan Yancey Harper and Haley Yancey; and four great-grandchildren, Jack, Lauren, Tatum and Constance.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers, Delmer, Harold, Leo, Berthold and Bert Thompson; four sisters, Ruth Cope, Alma Fay Johnson, Thelma May Jeffers and Cleo Thompson; and a dear companion pet, Wally.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Jackson.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Grant Gillard officiating. Burial will be at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Apple Creek Presbyterian Church.
