Dorothy "Jean" Williams, 87, of Dike, Iowa, died Friday Jan. 23, 2015, of natural causes at Grundy County Memorial Hospital.
She was born Jan. 30, 1927, in Fornfelt (Scott City), to Homer and Dorothy Beaird Brazel. She graduated from Fornfelt High School in 1944. She and Delmar L. Williams were married April 13, 1945, in Fornfelt. He preceded her in death July 12, 1978.
Dorothy was employed in medical records with Covenant Health Systems until her retirement in 1986.
Survivors include three sons, Randall and Kent Williams of Dike and Adam (Melissa) Williams of Rochester, Minnesota; four daughters, Marki Stamatiades of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Becki Williams of Littleton, Colorado, Kelli (Jeff) Schulz and Wendi Williams of West Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mike (Donna) Brazel of Liberty, Missouri, and Dennis "Pat" (Carol) Brazel of Scott City; a sister, Jodi (Pat) McKee of Cape Girardeau; a sister-in-law, Nita Brazel of Jackson; and a special family friend, Rich Goodwin of Dike.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Rickey Del Williams; a son-in-law, Sam Stamatiades; three brothers, (one in infancy), Homer "Junior" Brazel and James "Dick" Brazel; and a sister, Gladys Kinsall.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel in Waterloo, Iowa.
Local visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
Graveside service will follow at Cape County Memorial Park, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating.
