Dorothy Lillian Blumer Welker, 87, passed away Monday, May 15, 2006, at Royal Terrace Nursing Home in Olathe, Kan.
She was born to E.N. Blumer Sr. and Opal Lillian Best Blumer Oct. 2, 1918, in Cape Girardeau. Dorothy married Coy L. Welker May 1, 1938. Her husband preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, E.N. "Sonny" Blumer Jr.; two sisters, Marjorie Poe and Ruth Reynolds; and two daughters, Linda Wimber and Laura Held.
Survivors include a daughter, Alice Riehn of Olathe; a son, Bruce Welker of Cookeville, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.
Dorothy was a lifelong member and Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. She was also a member of Rebekah Lodge. Mrs. Welker had worked at Bib 'n Tucker children's store on Main Street, Jack and Jill Day Care, American Red Cross office, and Mother's Day Out at First Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mike Shupert officiating. Interment will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
