PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Dorothy J. Giesler Van Doren, 89, of Perryville passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at her home.
She was born March 22, 1924, in St. Mary, Mo., to August and Frances Arbuckler. She married Adrain Giesler on June 3, 1942, at Immaculate Conception Church in St. Mary. She later married Charles V. Van Doren on Oct. 8, 1994, at St. Vincent de Paul Church. He died May 8, 2013.
Dorothy graduated from St. Mary High School. She was an accountant with Giesler Bros. Construction, A.G. Construction, and later with Gibbars at Perry Plaza. She was a member of St. Vincent's Ladies of Charity.
She is survived by three stepchildren, Tim (Marilyn) Van Doren of Pevely, Mo., Linda (Joe) Basler of Ste. Genevieve, Mo., and Polly (Richard) Orr of Dayton, Ohio; stepgrandchildren; great-stepgrandchildren; and two close friends, Lori Wills of Cape Girardeau and Alice Boxdorfer.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; and a stepdaughter, Jane (Lee Lottes) of Ste. Genevieve, who died April 13, 2009.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until time of service Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Church Gathering Space.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Miller Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, friends and family who wish to honor her may contribute to St. Vincent's Centennial Endowment Fund or Serenity Hospice.
