Dorothy Rowland, 82, of Dayton, Ohio, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, in a hospice facility in Ohio. She was born Oct. 21, 1921, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Arthur and Bertha Vasterling Fuhrmann. She and Roe Dell Rowland were married Oct. 20, 1945. Rowland was a graduate of Central High School and received a certificate for teaching and in library science from Southeast Missouri State University...

Dorothy Rowland, 82, of Dayton, Ohio, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, in a hospice facility in Ohio.

She was born Oct. 21, 1921, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Arthur and Bertha Vasterling Fuhrmann. She and Roe Dell Rowland were married Oct. 20, 1945.

Rowland was a graduate of Central High School and received a certificate for teaching and in library science from Southeast Missouri State University.

She had been a librarian at Cape Girardeau Public Library, taught at different country schools in the area, and later was a librarian at St. Louis County Library more than 40 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Riehl of Beaver Creek, Ohio, Cathy Kerley of Fort Worth, Texas; two brothers, Earl Fuhrmann of Concordia, Mo., Ralph Fuhrmann of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Betty Obermann of Jackson, Ella Mae Hoeller of Cape Girardeau; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter and a brother.
