TAMMS, Ill. -- Dorothy P. Abbott Roberts, 95, of rural Tamms passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at her home.

She was born March 4, 1917, in Elco, Ill., daughter of Ira and Grace Shaffer Bridges.

Dorothy was the oldest living member of Elco Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school 25 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Ora Abbott Nov. 26, 1971; and second husband, Everett Eugene Roberts June 11, 1985.

Survivors include three daughters, Geneva Heinback of Concord, Calif., Delores Bottom of Tamms, Vermel (Lowell) Huckelberry of Jonesboro, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Sue Van Laningham of Pekin, Ill.; a sister, Pearl Harvell of Anna, Ill.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren, and great-stepgrandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms, and from 12:30 p.m. until service time Sunday at Elco Baptist Church.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the church, with the Rev. Lacie Betts officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery near Dongola, Ill.
