FROHNA — Dorothy M. Pilz, 95, of Frohna passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024, at Independence Care Center in Perryville.
She was born Jan. 20, 1928, in New Wells to Eugene and Clara Gerler Starzinger.
Dorothy and Clarence Pilz were married April 17, 1949, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells. He preceded her in death Aug. 25, 1974.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg, honorary member of Lutheran Women's Missionary League and past member of Immanuel Lutheran Altenburg Ladies Aid.
Dorothy was a homemaker and was known for her German potato salad. She enjoyed playing pinochle and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.
Survivors include a son, Michael (Lois) Pilz of Frohna; two daughters, Faye (Robert) Kasten of Altenburg and Peggy (Daniel) Leible of Frohna; and five grandchildren, Ashley Pilz, Eric (Alice) Kasten, Brooke (Greg) Wibbenmeyer, Christopher (Kelly) Leible and Heather (Travis) Mueller.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence Pilz; infant son; sister, Ruby Hecht; and grandchild, Chad Kasten.
Visitation will be from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, at the church, with the Rev. Frank Lucas officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg or Crown Hospice.
