Dorothy Ann Meier, 87, of Jackson died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at her home in Jackson. She was born May 2, 1923, near Jackson, a daughter to Martin William and Amelia Anna Bertha Altenthal Westerhold. Dorothy and Charles N. Meier were married Aug. 16, 1945. He preceded her in death May 26, 1979...

Dorothy Ann Meier, 87, of Jackson died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at her home in Jackson.

She was born May 2, 1923, near Jackson, a daughter to Martin William and Amelia Anna Bertha Altenthal Westerhold. Dorothy and Charles N. Meier were married Aug. 16, 1945. He preceded her in death May 26, 1979.

She was very involved with the family farm and proud of her family. Dorothy was a very loving grandmother and made goodies, sewed outfits and made quilts for all her grandchildren. She was a 4-H leader and a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and member of the Ladies Aide. Dorothy worked for Jackson Implement, Overhead Door Co. of Southeast Missouri, and retired from Co-op Service Center after many years of service.

Dorothy is survived by two sons, Paul "Butch" (Eileen) Meier and their children Brian (Paula) Meier and Greg (Lesley) Meier, Stephen (Teresa) Meier and their children Adam (Kristyna) Meier, Ben (Shelly) Meier, and Charlie Meier; a sister, Sarah (Leo) Schulte of Jackson and three great-grandchildren Josey, Gracyn and Tyler.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, Manford, Martin and Alberta Westerhold and Mabel Graden.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Henrichs officiating.

Burial will be in Russell Heights cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Radio broadcast or a charity of choice.
