NEW HAMBURG, Mo. -- Dorothy Heuring, 62, of New Hamburg died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born April 5, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Herman Michael and Antoinette Martha Westrich Dirnberger. She and Norman J. Heuring Sr. were married May 31, 1969. He died July 24, 2007.
Dorothy was a retired business teacher, having taught at Notre Dame High School, Delta High School from 1971 to 1996, Kelly High School from 1996-2005, Southeast Missouri State University and Sikeston Area Higher Education Center.
She resided in New Hamburg where the family raised Belgian draft horses and alfalfa hay. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, past president of St. Ann Sodality, member of Missouri Business Education Association, Southeast Business Teachers Association, Missouri Vocational Association, FBLA adviser, RCCW vice president, Parish School of Religion teacher, Renew chairman and 4-H leader.
Survivors include three sons, Norman Joe (Melanie) Heuring Jr. of Benton, Mo., Brian (Lauren) Heuring and Jon (Jennifer) Heuring; a daughter, Kara (Jeff) King; a brother, Michael (Darlene) Dirnberger; a sister, Pat (Jewel) Moore, all of New Hamburg; five grandchildren, Devin Heuring, Jackson Heuring, Hailey Heuring, Kristin King and Kaydin King, all of New Hamburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Herman Ervin Dirnberger and Gerald Joseph Dirnberger.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today at St. Lawrence Church. Parish prayers will be at 7.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Revs. Michael Casteel, Normand Varone and Ralph Duffner as co-celebrants.
Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
