Dorothy Hecht

Dorothy Virginia Hecht, 74, of New Wells died Monday, July 21, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She resided at the Lutheran Home the past two years.

She was born Nov. 1, 1933, at Neelys Landing, daughter of Eldor and Mildred Hesse Ruehling. She and Ellis R. Hecht were married March 31, 1951. He died April 10, 2003.

The Hechts owned and operated a dairy farm at New Wells more than 40 years. She was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at New Wells, and formerly served as a board member for Community Mutual Insurance in Pocahontas.

Survivors include two sons, Rickey and James Hecht of Jackson; a daughter, Catherine Wright of Jackson; two brothers, Donald and Erlis Ruehling of Frohna, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson and after 9:30 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Walter Patzwitz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
