Dorothy I. "Dot" Hasty, 81, of Vanduser, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at Heartland Care and Rehab Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Dec. 11, 1927, in Catron, Mo., daughter of Arvid L. and Jewell Catherine Fields Christopher.
She and Ettel Lloyd Hasty were married Jan. 26, 1946, at Crowder, Mo. He survives of the home.
She graduated from Vanduser High School in 1945 and attended the First Church of God in Vanduser.
She worked for the Visiting Nurses Association for five years in home services for patients, was housekeeper for Sikeston Convalescent Center and was activity director for Shuffit Nursing Homes. She was a member of the Ladies auxiliary for VFW Post 5368 in Morley, Mo. She was a teacher's aide at Bell City school and a substitute teacher at Lorimier Ridge School.
She was preceded in death by a son.
Survivors include three sons, Ronnie Hasty of Ozark, Ala., Lonnie Hasty of Cape Girardeau, Dennis Hasty of Sikeston, Mo.; three daughters, Kay Tropf and Sue Watkins, both of Marble Hill, Mo., Pam Easter of Vanduser; a brother, Terry Christopher of Arlington, Texas; four sisters, Bernice Fitts of Sikeston, Mo., Betty Meldrum of Midland, Texas, Frances Steun of Burnett, Texas, Sondra Smith of Jonesburg, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Trish Eskew officiating.
Burial will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.
