Dorothy Hamm

Dorothy Elizabeth Hamm, 89, of Scott City died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Mo.

She was born May 16, 1922, in Ancell to Otto Frederick and Anna Agatha Sander Walter. She married William Avery Hamm on Oct. 27, 1941, in Jackson. He preceded her in death Nov. 24, 1992.

She is survived by five sons, William Douglas (Shelby) Hamm of Chaffee, Jack R. Hamm Sr., Glen D. (Nancy) Hamm, Mark E. (Brenda) Hamm, all of Scott City, and Bruce A. (Mary Ann) Hamm of Benton, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Martha Hamm of Chaffee; three brothers, Gene Walter of Morrisville, Mo., Alfred Walter of Fruitland and Henry Walter of Scott City; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Roger Hamm; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Hamm; and a grandson, John Wayne Hamm; four brothers; and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel with the Rev. Jeremy Sells officiating.

Burial will be in Lightner Memorial Cemetery in Scott City.
