Dorothy Jane "Dottie" Halter, 75, of Pensacola, Fla., and Scott City died Monday, Feb. 27, 2006, at 12:15 p.m. at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Dorothy was born July 9, 1930, in Cape Girardeau, to the late Otto and Ottilia Burger Halter. She attended school at Benton and Kelso, Mo., and Cape Girardeau.
After retiring as a management analyst at Pensacola Naval Base, Dorothy graduated from Pensacola Junior College.
Dorothy was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Pensacola and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Scott City. She was an active member of the Young at Heart organization, the Leisure Group and the Pensacola Junior College Seniors.
She is survived by a sister, Laverne Halter Skinner; a nephew, Roger and Joanie Skinner of Cape Girardeau; three nieces, Gail and Robert Cummins of Jefferson City, Mo., Sherri Montgomery of Jackson, and Leigh Ann Skinner of Kirkwood, Mo.
Also surviving are special friends and relatives.
Friends may call at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel in Cape Girardeau from 3 to 7 p.m. today. A prayer service will be held at 5:30. Friends may also call at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City from 9 a.m. to service time Thursday.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. The Rev. David Coon will officiate. Burial will be in St. Denis Cemetery at Benton.
