Dorothy Lee Grebing, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, at Lutheran Home.

She was born Aug. 20, 1927, in Cape Girardeau to Ernest Truman and Clara Christine Haupt Niswonger. She and Edward Grebing were married May 1, 1949, at Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. They were married for almost 58 years until his death March 18, 2007.

Dorothy had a strong faith and looked forward to the day she would be re-united with her son, Keith, and husband in Heaven.

She was a lifelong resident of Cape Girardeau. She attended May Greene School and graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1944.

She worked at Woolworth's lunch counter in downtown Cape Girardeau, International Shoe Co. for several years and for most of her life was a homemaker, keeping up with five children. She frequently provided homemade bubbles, chocolate chip cookies, fresh Kool-Aid and other treats not only to her children, but to many others growing up in the Perryville Road neighborhood.

She was an active and charter member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Letter Carriers auxiliaries and Parent Teachers Association and served many years as an election judge.

She and her husband enjoyed spending time with family and many friends and frequented the Little Ole Opry, Country Music Hall and other places in the area. The Grebing family had many memorable vacation experiences in their Apache Camper.
