SIKESTON -- Dorothy A. Merryman Garrett, 48, of Sikeston, died Saturday, April 18, 1992 of an extended illness.
She was born May 8, 1943 in Dorena, daughter of Huter and Dot Latamondeer Merryman.
The married Travis Garrett on Dec. 31, 1960 in East Prairie. He survives.
She and her husband owned SEMO Communications, where she worked as a corporate secretary. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sikeston and a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority.
Other survivors are two sons, Travis Tyrone Garrett of Sikeston and Shannon Barrett, U.S. Navy, of Virginia Beach, Va.; one daughter, Denise Antrobus of Affton; one brother, Willard Merryvan of Olive Branch, Ill.; six sisters, Vernell Owens, Ft. Knox, Ky., Ann Rice, Immokalee, Fla., LaVelle VanHouton, Bigerlville, Pa., Geneva Merryman and Betty Pearson, both of Phoenix, Ariz. and Margie Williams, Olive Branch; and two grandchildren.
Funeral service is today at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church with the Rev. William Stanton officiating. Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie. Visitation was held Sunday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.
