Dorothy Ann Dees, 85 of Scott City passed away Monday, Dec. 24, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on May 26, 1933, in Chaffee, Missouri, to John Anthony and Bertha Lorene Lauck Halter. She married Harvey Claude "Avery" Dees on June 17, 1950, in Chaffee. He preceded her in death on April 21, 1996...

Dorothy Ann Dees, 85 of Scott City passed away Monday, Dec. 24, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on May 26, 1933, in Chaffee, Missouri, to John Anthony and Bertha Lorene Lauck Halter. She married Harvey Claude "Avery" Dees on June 17, 1950, in Chaffee. He preceded her in death on April 21, 1996.

Dorothy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City and the Council of Catholic Women, and was a Girl Scout leader. She served 25 years as chairperson of Scott City Food Pantry and volunteered 29 years with Southeast Hospice, as well as the Retired Volunteer Senior program and Ugly Quilt.

She is survived by two sons, Larry (Melba) Dees of Springfield, Missouri, and Anthony Dees of Scott City; three daughters, Diane Scholl and Joyce (Jim) Cliff of Scott City and Debbie (Gary) Burford of Benton, Missouri; four sisters, Cecilia Walton of Fairview Heights, Illinois; Lorena Halter of Scott City; Elizabeth Stubbs of Chaffee and Anna Mae Smith of Ringgold, Georgia; 13 grandchildren and and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Gary and Thomas; three brothers and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Casteel as celebrant.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Scott City.
