A memorial service for Dorothy Damm Butler of East Longmeadow, Mass., will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Congregational Church in East Longmeadow.
Hafey East Longmeadow Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Butler, 74, died Sunday, July 20, 1997, in a nursing home.
A native of Lancaster, Wis., she was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, and received a master's degree in community development from Springfield College.
Butler was a children's services social worker with Massachusetts State Department of Mental Health in Northampton 23 years, retiring in 1987. She also had worked as a social worker supervisor in the Springfield, Mass., Headstart program.
She was a member of First Congregational Church and had taught Sunday School; was a member of East Longmeadow Women's Committee Club, League of Women Voters, and served 16 years with the Housing Authority.
Butler volunteered at the Open Pantry, and was a life member of Appalachian Mountain Club and Pioneer Valley Girl Scouts.
Survivors include her husband, Roland Butler; four sons, Laurence Butler of Boonton, N.J., Malcolm Butler of Fargo, N.D., Kenneth Butler of Englewood, Colo., Douglas Butler of Centerville, Mass.; a sister, Marilyn Harris of Cape Girardeau; and two grandchildren.
