Dorothy Marie Brown, daughter of the late Herbert Peter and Clara Glueck Enderle, was born June 1, 1949, in Cape Girardeau and departed her life Sunday, June 25, 2023, at her home in Jackson at the age of 74 years.
On Nov. 16, 1991, she was united in marriage to Paul Brown in Cape Girardeau. They enjoyed 31 happy years together. He survives of the home in Jackson.
For many years she enjoyed bowling with the Friday Night Bowlerettes, where she served as the secretary/treasurer. Most of the time you could find her at the baseball field, the basketball court or the track cheering for her favorite athletes -- her grandchildren. She loved the Jackson Indians and the Rolla Bulldogs. She was a Cardinals fan (even if they weren't winning), and recently became a Kansas City Chiefs fan. She enjoyed watching Hallmark movies, was an avid reader and loved visiting the casino.
She was a former bookkeeper for Chateau Girardeau and BART Transportation in Cape Girardeau. Since she was someone who liked to stay busy, instead of retirement, Dorothy joined the staff of South Elementary in Jackson as a noon aide. She was also a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson.
Besides her husband, survivors include three daughters, Gretchen (Devin) Lindsey of Rolla, Missouri, Leslie (J.R.) Watkins of Jackson and Trisha Brown of Mayfield, Kentucky; one son, John Hampton Brown of Jackson; two sisters, Marilyn (Larry) Mott and Betty (Alvin) Vandeven, all of Chaffee, Missouri; four grandchildren, Chase Lindsey, Trent Lindsey, Landon Watkins and Lilly Watkins; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Enderle, and a nephew, Thomas Enderle.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.
Eucharistic celebration will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee, with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop officiating. Interment will follow in St. Ambrose Cemetery.
