PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Dorothy Kiefer Brown, 89, of Perryville died Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at St. John's Mercy Hospital in St. Louis. She was born Nov. 25, 1919, in Sereno, Mo., daughter of Albert F. and Gertrude Gagnepain Moore. She and Homer "Jim" Kiefer were married Dec. 12, 1942. He preceded her in death March 17, 1966. She married Gilbert Brown Sept. 15, 1972. He preceded her in death Aug. 24, 1976...

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Dorothy Kiefer Brown, 89, of Perryville died Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at St. John's Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born Nov. 25, 1919, in Sereno, Mo., daughter of Albert F. and Gertrude Gagnepain Moore. She and Homer "Jim" Kiefer were married Dec. 12, 1942. He preceded her in death March 17, 1966. She married Gilbert Brown Sept. 15, 1972. He preceded her in death Aug. 24, 1976.

Brown had worked at the Miraculous Medal Gift Shop. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, St. Vincent Ministry of Praise, Ministry to the Elderly, American Legion Auxiliary and Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.

Survivors include six daughters, Mary Ann Dockins of McKinney, Texas, Barbara (Jerrold) Jennings and Joan (Bob) Dean of Perryville, Kathy Kiefer of St. Peters, Mo., Sandra (Carl) Rothermich of O'Fallon, Mo., Lori Kiefer of St. Louis; six stepchildren, Ed (Susie) Brown of Farmington, Mo., Thomas (Margie) Brown of Ste. Genevieve, Mo., Larry (Carol) Brown, Kathy (Ed) Robinson, Dennis (Tammy) Brown, Scott (Pat) Brown, all of Perryville; two sisters, Hazel Unnerstall of Perryville, Katzie Lorenz of Ironton, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; 15 stepgrandchildren; and 19 great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a son, Jim Kiefer; a stepson, Gregory Brown; two sisters, Rita Gieringer and Doris Killian; and three brothers, Clyde, Lester and Howard Moore.

Memorials are preferred to St. Vincent School System or American Cancer Society.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Church.

Funeral Mass will be at noon Friday at the church, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Young and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
