PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Dorothea Mae Unterreiner, 95, of Perryville died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018, at her home in Brewer, Missouri.
She was born Feb. 25, 1923, in Brewer, the daughter of William Dennis and Julia A. Layton Layton. She and Raymond A. Unterreiner were married on Oct. 22, 1945. He preceded her in death March 4, 2007.
She was a lifelong member of Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer. Dorothea graduated in 1941 as salutatorian from St. Vincent's High School in Perryville.
She was employed over the years as a secretary at International Shoe Co. and retired after 22 years from the ASCS farm office in Perryville. She loved baking, cooking and working in her flower garden.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol (Robert) Moore and Ann (Louis) Baudendistel, both of Perryville, and Gail (Jim) Lichtenegger of Jackson; eight grandchildren, Penny (Segundo) Mosquera, Brad (Liz) Moore, Jill Moore, Jason (Stacy) Baudendistel, Curt (Becky) Baudendistel, Jenise, Sarah and Paul Lichtenegger; and 11 great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Madeline and Maria Crook, Jake Freese, Brock, Conner, Zach, Ty and Kade Baudendistel and Cole and Eli Moore; and a special great-niece and friend, Julie Pruitt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters, Ruth Grass, Maria Layton and Lulu Layton; and one brother, Harold Layton.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 6:30 to 9:15 a.m., with a rosary at 8:30 a.m., Saturday at Young and Sons Funeral Home.
She will then be taken to Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer for Mass at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Rich Wehrmeyer, C.M., officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to Kindred Hospice or Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer.
