DEXTER, Mo. -- Funeral for Doris A. Wren of East Peoria, Ill., will be held at 1 p.m. today at Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. Dennis Ward will officiate. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until service time.
Wren, 76, died Friday, June 8, 2001, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill.
She was born Aug. 12, 1924, in Hagarville, Ark., daughter of Chester A. and Walcie Mae Rutledge James. She and Roy Wren were married Nov. 21, 1975, at Dexter. He died July 8, 1985.
Formerly of Dexter, she was a charter member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was a former organizer for Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union in St. Louis. She was attending Trinity Presbyterian Church in Bartonville, Ill.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Dooley of Bartonville; a stepson, Donald Wren of Fallon, Nev.; three brothers, Ross and Lawton James of Dexter, Dorwin James of Desloge, Mo.; a sister, Wanda Mahan of Jackson, Mich.; a grandson; stepgrandchildren; and great-stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.
