Doris Jean Taylor went to her heavenly home Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022.
She was born March 13, 1936, in Elco, Illinois, to Henry and Hazel Burchett Gearing.
She married Don "Zach" Taylor on Nov. 25, 1955.
Doris was a stay-at-home mom for years as she lovingly raised their three children. After the death of her husband, she worked as a cook for several years at Parkwood Manor, and after that she cooked for 10 years at Southeast Hospital, retiring in 2003.
She is survived by two sons, Robert (Salle) Taylor of Marble Hill, Missouri, and David (Theresa) Taylor of McClure, Illinois; daughter, Janet (Tom) Vandeven of Marble Hill; brother, Derald Gearing of Nashville, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Amy (Lance) Tremaine of Ellington, Missouri, Terry (Cara) Taylor of Scott City, Douglass (Chelsey) Taylor of Westfield, Illinois, Mike (Krista) Taylor of McClure, Jennifer (Casey) Bloodworth of Marion, Illinois, and Jon (Camie) Taylor of Oak Ridge; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Brother Bobby Smithey officiating. Burial will be at Lindsey Cemetery in McClure.
