BLOOMFIELD -- Doris Edith Roberts, 77, of Bloomfield died Saturday, June 5, 1999, at the St. Louis University hospital.
Roberts was born Aug. 29, 1921, at Cowards, S.C., daughter of James Lonzo and Exie Marie Owens Martin. She and Otto Roberts were married Aug. 22, 1938, at New Madrid.
She was a member of the Liberty Hill General Baptist Church at Aid and was active in the Ladies Aid and Women's Club at the church as well as teaching Sunday school. She was also a member of the Stoddard County Extension Club.
Survivors are her husband; three sons, Lin Roberts of Jackson, Charles W. Roberts of Cape Girardeau, Donald Roberts of O'Fallon; a daughter, Jane Marquis of Marble Hill; four brothers, Jack Martin of Sikeston, J.W. Martin of Memphis, Tenn., Talmadge Martin of Paducah, Ky., Ted Martin of Bertrand; two sisters, Hazel Stults of Lovelaceville, Ky., Margaret Blackburn of Bertrand; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Roberts was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Frank Bain officiating. Burial will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
