SALEM, Ore. -- Doris June Rankin, 87, moved to Heaven Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019.
She was born on June 17, 1931, in Cape Girardeau to Roy and Eula Niswonger. She married Charles Rankin in 1948.
Doris was educated in the Jackson school system. She was a gifted singer and artist. She loved the Lord and was called to the mission field. Doris traveled extensively working in the prison ministry, with the homeless and Native Americans.
Loving survivors include daughters, Cindy Rankin of California and Alana Starr of Oregon; a brother, James Niswonger of Cape Girardeau; and a sister, Donna Petzoldt of Jackson; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Darlene Smith; son, Chuck Rankin; brothers, Leroy and Ivan Niswonger; and sister, Jean Brawley.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Feb. 16 at Our Father's Arms in Scott City.
