COBDEN, Ill. -- Doris N. Middleton, 91, of Cobden died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, at her home.
She was born Oct. 30, 1916, in Charleston, Mo., daughter of John Meade and Minnie Frances Potter Bibb. She and Glenn E. Middleton were married Nov. 15, 1931, in Charleston. He died Nov. 20, 1995.
Middleton was a member of First Baptist Church of Cobden and had taught Sunday school in various churches. She was a member of Cobden Women's Club and had been a reporter for the Cobden News section of the Gazette Democrat.
Survivors include four daughters, JoAnn Yates of Anna, Ill., Midge Stewart, Nina Lofton and Sherri Lukes, all of Cobden; a son, Johnnie Middleton of Cobden; two sisters, Faye Grace of Columbus, Ohio, Freda Powell of Toluca Lake, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters and a sister.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden, and after 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Cobden.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with Kim Capel and the Rev. Allen Speer officiating. Burial will be in Cobden Cemetery.
