Doris Evalyn Aldrich Hilpert, 82, of Cape Girardeau died peacefully in her sleep Monday, May 22, 2023, at her home.

She was born May 3, 1941, in Dexter, Missouri, the daughter of Roy and Alberta Work Aldrich.

Doris was a proud graduate of Puxico (Missouri) High School, Class of 1959. She retained close and longtime friendships with the majority of her graduating class throughout her life. After attending Southeast Missouri State University, she met and married John W. Hilpert Jr. on Dec. 26, 1964, and they began their family.

Doris and her husband were longtime owners of John's Heating & Air Service, as well as several residential properties in Cape Girardeau. They loved their work, but loved retirement even more. Avid travelers, they spent their retirement years driving their RV through much of the country.

They also enjoyed the "snowbird" lifestyle, spending their winters in a beach house in the community of Biloxi, Mississippi. It was there they found their church home, Beauvoir United Methodist Church. Doris was a member until her death.
