CHARLESTON -- Doris Vowels Forbey, 83, of Charleston died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at her home.
She was born Aug. 23, 1918, in Poinsett Lepanto, Ark., daughter of Raymond and Bertie Blevens Taylor. She married Richard "Dick" Forbey Dec. 18, 1977.
Forbey lived in Scott and Mississippi counties most of her life. She was co-owner and operator of Vowels Hardware, retiring in 1973. She was a member of Charleston United Methodist Church and VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Don Menken of Colorado Springs, Colo., William Forbey of Sikeston, Richard Forbey of Charleston; two daughters, Bette Summers of Brook Park, Ohio, Lana Byford of Corning, Ark.; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A son, four brothers, and three sisters preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church in Charleston, with the Rev. Rick White officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.
