ADVANCE -- Dora Pearl Ladd, 98, of Kirkwood and formerly of rural Advance died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1998, at the Des Peres Health and Rehabilitation Center in Des Peres.
She was born May 20, 1900, in Dongola, the daughter of Joel Madison Crites and Christina Killian Crites. She married William L. Ladd May 14, 1920, in Lutesville. He died April 7, 1950.
She was a graduate of Will Mayfield College in Marble Hill, a homemaker and taught school in Bollinger County.
She was an active member for 45 years and Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star Marble Hill chapter. She also was a member of the Ladd Chapel Church in Greenbrier and the VFW Auxiliary in Marble Hill.
She is survived by four daughters, Dorothy East of Cape Girardeau, Jane Rockwell of Imperial, Carol Mosette Stanley of St. Louis and Rosalie Gaither of Kirkwood; a son, William Alan Ladd of Galva, Kan; 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters, two grandsons and two great-grandsons.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday and from noon-2 p.m. Saturday at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill.
An Eastern Star service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Fred Ritter officiating.
Burial will be at Baker Cemetery in Marble Hill.
