Donna Boyel

CHESTERFIELD, Mo. -- Donna Kay Boyel, 59, formerly of Jackson, passed away Friday, June 30, 2006, at Westchester House in Chesterfield, Mo.

She was born Jan. 19, 1947, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of the late Marvin and Gladys L. Bowers Surface. She and George Boyel were married June 4, 1967, in Jackson. The family lived 23 years in St. Charles, Mo.

Boyel was a 1964 graduate of Jackson High School. She briefly attended Southeast Missouri State University and then graduated from business college in Cape Girardeau. She worked five years at Brown Shoe Co. in St. Louis, then in the marketing department at North West Plaza, and 16 years for H&R Block teaching and managing. The last five years she worked for their premium office at West Port Plaza. Boyel was an active member of Marvin Park United Methodist Church, taught youth Sunday school, vacation Bible school and youth group, was a vocalist in the choir and a worship liturgist.

Loving survivors include her husband; a daughter, Amy Boyel of St. Charles; aunts and uncles, Walter and Billie Surface of Marble Hill, Mo., Orville and Helen Bowers of Jackson; and several cousins.

Friends may call Wednesday, July 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral service will be Thursday, July 6, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jimmie Corbin officiating.

Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery.
