Donna Jean Meyers Birk, 49, of Jackson passed away Wednesday evening, Oct. 24, 2007, at Madison Medical Center in Fredericktown, Mo., from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

Her father, Donald Meyers, 74, of Jackson passed away earlier in the day at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

Donna was born Sept. 29, 1958, in Bonne Terre, Mo., daughter of the late Donald and Betty McDowell Meyers.

Donna was a longtime member of Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville, and was formerly a rural mail carrier out of the Jackson post office. She then stayed home several years to take care of her son, Chad, who passed away March 25, 2003, as a result of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Most recently, Donna worked as a caretaker through the SEMO Alliance for Disability Independence (SADI) in Cape Girardeau.

Loving survivors include two sons, Josh Birk and girlfriend Kelly Parres of Jackson, Clay Birk of Jackson; a brother, Dennis Meyers Sr. of Bailey, Colo.; a nephew, Denny (Sunni) Meyers Jr. of Jackson; a niece, Bridgett Meyers of Montana; a close friend, Jason Eftink of Jackson; and former husband, Terry Birk of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by a son and her parents.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Ann Mowery officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Susan G. Komen for the Cure or Zion United Methodist Church.
